Niko Arnautis’s side got off to a perfect start and took the lead in the 12th minute after Sara Doorsoun’s superb pass to set up Remina Chiba for the opener.
Freigang hat-trick
That early goal seemed to help the Eintracht players throw off the shackles, and Laura Freigang in particular was unstoppable, netting a first-half hat-trick (15’, 28’, 45’+2) to give her side a 4-0 lead at the break.
Gräwe on target
Arnautis’ charges remained firmly on top in the second half too, with goals from Lisanne Gräwe (69’) and another from Chiba (90’) sealing a 6-0 victory.
Reaction
Hat-trick hero Laura Freigang: “Obviously it wasn’t easy today given how disappointed we were two days ago, but we did what we had to do. Winning 6-0 leaves us with a better feeling than we had after the defeat on Wednesday. Personally, I’m obviously pleased to have scored three goals but I’d have liked to score them in a different context. Getting a hat-trick today isn’t the most important thing. We wanted things to pan out differently at this tournament, we wanted to be in the final. But the goals and the win were important for us to leave Iceland feeling a bit better.”
