Niko Arnautis’ side played with pace and fierce pressure right from the off, and were unfortunate not to take the lead in the 13th minute when Laura Freigang’s long-range shot hit the crossbar.
Freigang milestone
Nicole Anyomi (24’) and Freigang (25’) squandered the team’s next chances before the latter eventually netted her 100th competitive goal in the 36th minute, finishing off a counter-attack with a superb strike into the top-right corner to give Eintracht a richly deserved lead.
Red card for Freiburg
Arnautis’ charges enjoyed a numerical advantage from the 46th minute onwards after Julia Stierli was sent off – and Eintracht were quick to take advantage when Freigang grabbed her second of the game in the 53rdminute.
Chiba hat-trick
Eintracht continued to dominate for the rest of the match, leaving Freiburg no hope of a comeback. Barbara Dunst effectively killed the game off in the 75th minute when she made it 3-0, before substitute Remina Chiba made her mark in the closing stages with a quickfire hat-trick (90’, 90’+2, 90’+4) to round out a 6-0 victory.
Reaction
Head coach Niko Arnautis: “The way we’re playing right now is really enjoyable. As of tomorrow, we’ll need to focus on our upcoming tasks. It’s nice to be top of the table but we’ll just keep working. It’s important that you go into every game with this focus, motivation and hunger. That’s what sets us apart at the moment.”
