Niko Arnautis has been in the Frankfurt dugout since 2017, originally for predecessor club 1. FFC Frankfurt from 2017 to 2020 and then for Eintracht Frankfurt since the merger in 2020. During this time, the German with Greek heritage has taken charge of more than 200 competitive matches and achieved third place in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga in each of the last three seasons, thus qualifying for the first round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. In the 2023/24 campaign, Arnautis’ side came through this and reached the group stage. He also guided Eintracht Women to the final of the DFB Cup in 2021, where they lost 1-0 to VfL Wolfsburg. The Frankfurt native, who is currently completing the DFB Pro Licence course, was previously under contract until 30 June 2026, which has now been extended early by two years.
My motivation to keep making history is huge.
Niko Arnautis
“The long-term contract extension with Niko is a sign of continuity in the head coach position,” said Katharina Kiel, Eintracht Women’s technical director. “Niko has shaped Eintracht Frankfurt’s path in recent years since the merger, and also embodies our way of continued development and ambitions. We’re sure we haven’t reached the end of this path and will continue on it together in the coming years. With his abilities to lead a team, to stimulate people and the environment and to lead by example, he’s an excellent fit for Eintracht Frankfurt. We look forward to the continued cooperation, which has been characterised by a high level of trust in the past and will continue to be in the future.”
“I’m very happy that we’ve already set the course for the future and will be continuing on our joint path,” said Arnautis. “We’ve made a lot of progress as a whole team in the last few years and developed step by step. I’m really looking forward to the tasks and challenges ahead, which we’re all approaching together very positively. I’m convinced we’ll continue to be successful in the future. My motivation to keep making history is huge. Eintracht Frankfurt is very close to my heart, so I didn’t have to think long about whether I wanted to continue here. I was born here, I live and breathe this club, and am glad and grateful for the trust the management have shown in me and that I get to continue to perform this role for my beloved club.”
