Frohms arrives from SC Freiburg, where she spent two seasons between the posts. The 25-year-old was previously at VfL Wolfsburg from 2011 to 2018, making 25 appearances as a back-up goalkeeper. She won four German league title with the She-Wolves (2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018), won the DFB Cup five times (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018) and lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy in both 2013 and 2014.
I’m very happy to have found a club in Eintracht Frankfurt where I can develop in the best possible way.
Merle Frohms
Frohms has also won 10 caps for Germany since making her debut for the senior team in October 2018. Prior to that, the 1.75-metre-tall keeper represented her country at every youth level, winning the European Women’s Under-17 Championship in 2012 and then the U-20 Women’s World Cup two years later. Frohms is now looking to take the next step in her career in Frankfurt: “I’m very happy to have found a club in Eintracht Frankfurt where I can develop in the best possible way – both on a footballing and personal level – over the coming years and build on the support of those in charge.”
Siegfried Dietrich, sporting director of Eintracht Frankfurt Women, is delighted to welcome the experienced leader to the club: “We’re very happy that Merle Frohms has chosen us over the many options she undoubtedly had. She’s a big personality and a modern, ball-playing goalkeeper.”
