Eintracht sign Sara Doorsoun

The Germany international joins Frankfurt from VfL Wolfsburg on a contract until summer 2023.

Germany international Sara Doorsoun has completed a move to Eintracht Frankfurt. The defender joins the club from 2020/21 runners-up VfL Wolfsburg on a contract until 30 June 2023.

By signing the 30-year-old, Eintracht have acquired the services of an established top-flight player with international experience. The versatile defender made her Women’s Bundesliga debut in 2010 for SC 07 Bad Neuenahr. After a season with 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, she spent five years with SGS Essen before joining then title-holders Wolfsburg. Doorsoun, who has made 211 Bundesliga appearances overall, won the league twice and the DFB Cup three times during her time with VfL.

At Eintracht, we have the potential to qualify for the Champions League.

Having made 20 UEFA Champions League appearances and won 35 caps for the senior Germany national team, Doorsoun also has a wealth of experience at European and international level.

“I want to use my experience to play a part in helping Frankfurt take the next step,” Doorsoun explained. “At Eintracht, we have the potential to qualify for the Champions League – preferably as early as next season, because Champions League games give you a real kick.”

“I’m extremely pleased that we were able to sign Sara Doorsoun in time for the resumption of the season,” added sporting director Siegfried Dietrich. “She was just the type of defensive reinforcement we had in mind from the beginning after long-term injuries to Camilla Küver and Virginia Kirchberger.”
