No revenge

Eintracht were defeated by VfL Wolfsburg again, losing 3-0 in a match that rounded off their training camp.

The Eagles’ second friendly against VfL was again a tight affair for long periods, but ultimately they ended up on the losing side once more, losing 3-0 following the narrow defeat on Wednesday.

Victory for Eintracht would probably have been undeserved, but the game was more evenly balanced than the scoreline suggests. Following the full-time whistle at the AOK Stadion, the team returned to Frankfurt and will now have two days off before beginning the second part of their winter preparations, leading up to their final friendly against 1. FC Köln on Sunday 31 January.

Head coach Niko Arnautis: “Today we matched them at least for the first 55 minutes, and had the better chances to score in the first half. We were able to make it a very evenly balanced game, so that’s another step forward for us. We wanted to consolidate that in the second half but then we conceded a third goal. After that we made seven substitutions and so needed to find our rhythm again. Overall it was a good game with a frustrating result.”
