Eintracht Frankfurt Women won the final friendly match of their winter preparations, following up victories over Sporting de Huelva (4-0) and 1. FSV Mainz 05 (5-0) with a 7-1 success over league rivals 1. FC Köln.
Niko Arnautis’s charges effectively put the game to bed after just 12 minutes following goals from Nicole Anyomi (2’), Sara Doorsoun (8’), Laura Freigang (pen. 9’) and Geraldine Reuteler (12’).
Köln were completely overwhelmed by Eintracht’s pace, pressure and power, and conceded a fifth goal midway through the half when Anyomi grabbed her second (23’).
After the interval, Freigang converted another penalty to make it 6-0 (57’) and Jella Veit added her name to the scoresheet a short while later (63’). Köln scored a late consolation though Taylor Ziemer (86’) to make the final score 7-1.
Eintracht welcome Bayer 04 Leverkusen to the Stadion am Brentanobad in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga on 31 January, looking to consolidate top spot against the fourth-placed team.
Head coach Niko Arnautis: “Overall, the girls worked really well during our preparations. Today we saw once again that we’re fit and ready for the restart. We’ve done brilliantly in our friendlies but now we have to carry that into our competitive games. The positive feeling we’ve earned will help with that.”
