Striker Lara Prašnikar has left Eintracht Frankfurt after five years at the club, joining Utah Royals FC – who are based in Salt Lake County – in the National Women’s Soccer League.
After joining the Eagles from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in summer 2020, the 27-year-old Slovenia international appeared in at least 20 of Eintracht’s 22 league games every season. Prašnikar struck twice in the first round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2022/23 – Eintracht’s first shot at Europe since merging with 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2022 – before taking part in the Champions League group stage for the first time in her career in 2023/24, registering another two goals and three assists in the process.
We wish Lara all the best for her next adventure in the USA.
Head coach Niko Arnautis
A three-time winner of Slovenia’s Women’s Footballer of the Year award, Prašnikar racked up 49 goals and as many assists in 133 competitive appearances for Eintracht Women – more than any other player in that time. She also ended the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns as top scorer in the Women’s Bundesliga.
“She did much more than score goals”
“We can look back on five very successful years with Lara, in which she was able to grow with us as a player and person and was an invaluable member of the team,” said head coach Niko Arnautis. “Apart from her goalscoring instincts, what set her apart as a striker was that she always had an eye for her team-mates, and her game was about much more than just scoring goals. She was, and is, a proper team player and always sacrificed herself for the team. We’d like to thank her for that and wish her all the best for her next adventure in the USA.”
