Merle Frohms to leave Eintracht Women

The goalkeeper will join VfL Wolfsburg in July after two years in Frankfurt.

Merle Frohms will join Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg at the end of the season, returning to the club where she played as a back-up goalkeeper to Almuth Schult between 2011 and 2018. The 22-time Germany international was under contract until 30 June 2023 but opted to trigger a release clause in her deal.

The 27-year-old has made 41 appearances in all competitions since signing from SC Freiburg in summer 2020 and has kept six clean sheets in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga so far this season.

“We’re obviously sad that Merle Frohms will leave Frankfurt after two years as first-choice goalkeeper to join VfL Wolfsburg, who are nearer her home,” said Eintracht sporting director Siegfried Dietrich. “We thank Merle for her committed performances and wish her all the best for the future.”
