Eintracht Frankfurt Women round out the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga Matchday 13 fixtures on Monday evening when they visit Union Berlin at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei (kick-off 18:00 CET).
“Convert our dominance into points”
The match against the promoted outfit may be the first fixture between the sides in the Women’s Bundesliga, but head coach Niko Arnautis is not underestimating the opposition: “We’re aware of Union’s strengths and the energy their crowd can generate. For us, it’ll be important to produce a mature performance, to stay focused and to convert our dominance into points.”
Victory is imperative for Eintracht in terms of staying in touch with the European qualifying places, as the team go into the encounter seventh in the league standings on 19 points. Union are 11th on 11 points.
Reunion
There are a number of familiar faces in the Union squad, including former Eintracht player Tanja Pawollek, who is currently injured, and academy graduates Cara Bösl, Anna Aehling, Tomke Schneider and Leonie Köster. Meanwhile, Eleni Markou, who moved to Frankfurt from the German capital over the summer, returns to face her former employers.
Team news
Arnautis is still without Sophia Winkler, while Rebecka Blomqvist, Erëleta Memeti and Laura Freigang are all rated doubtful.
