Nadine Riesen signs for Eintracht

Switzerland international Nadine Riesen has joined Eintracht Frankfurt Women from FC Zürich, agreeing a contract until 2026.

Eintracht Women have added another full-back to their squad shortly before the start of the season. Nadine Riesen moves to Frankfurt from FC Zürich on a contract valid until 30 June 2026.

The 23-year-old defender made her debut in the Swiss top flight for FC St. Gallen-Staad at the age of just 15 in 2015. In 2019 she joined BSC Young Boys and was voted into the Women’s Super League ‘Team of the Season’ in 2021. In the following two seasons for Zürich, she made a total of 66 competitive appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists. She helped the team to win the double in 2021/22 and qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The 1.68-metre-tall full-back started in every game in the first two rounds as well as in the Champions League group stage.

The Swiss champion has also made 13 appearances for her country and travelled to New Zealand for the recent World Cup with SGE striker Géraldine Reuteler, where she featured in all four games – three from the start – as Switzerland reached the round of 16.

“I already spoke with Géraldine Reuteler during the World Cup about what I can expect in Frankfurt,” Riesen said. “Frankfurt are a really cool team, which I’m looking forward to. The club speaks for itself – Eintracht is very familial, open and welcoming. The excitement for the UWCL tournament next week is huge, and generally for wearing the Eintracht shirt for the first time and getting to experience the fans in person.”

Head coach and sporting director Niko Arnautis added: “Nadine is a player we’ve had our eye on for a very long time. She brings a lot of potential, she’s a physically strong defender who can play in both full-back positions, and also an ambitious team player. She proved on the biggest stage at the World Cup that she possesses international-level ability. Overall, despite her young age, Nadine comes with a lot of international experience from the World Cup and her UWCL outings with Zürich. We want to join her in the next phase of her development.”
