Sophia Kleinherne signs through to 2024

SGE defender Sophia Kleinherne is the sixth Eagle to extend her contract before Christmas, adding an extra two seasons to her existing deal.

German international Sophia Kleinherne is already the sixth member of the women’s first-team squad to extend her deal with Eintracht Frankfurt, signing a new contract that will keep her at the club until 30 June 2024.

Despite her tender age, the 21-year-old has already made over 80 appearances in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, all of them either for Eintracht or 1. FFC Frankfurt, as it was in its previous incarnation. This season, the two-time Fritz Walter Medal-winner (bronze in 2017, silver in 2018), has been on the pitch for over 90 minutes in every Bundesliga match. She also has 12 German caps to her name already.

“This early contract extension through to 2024 for Sophia Kleinherne is one of the most important aspects of our squad-building for the future,” added sporting director Siegfried Dietrich. “Sophia is one of the stand-out players in our defence, which ensures that the team can continue along its development path while having a well-liked squad member in its ranks!”
