Cup showdown against Bayern

The top two teams in the Bundesliga meet in the DFB Cup quarter-finals at the FC Bayern Campus.

Eintracht Frankfurt Women face their FC Bayern Munich counterparts in an eagerly awaited DFB Cup quarter-final tie on Wednesday 12 February at the FC Bayern Campus (kick-off 18:30 CET).

Personnel

Sophia Kleinherne returned to Eintracht’s squad for Sunday’s match against Turbine Potsdam for the first time since sustaining an injury against Jena in December, and got her first taste of competitive action this year. However, Niko Arnautis’s charges are still without long-term absentees Barbara Dunst, Dilara Acikgöz and Ilayda Acikgöz, while Sophie Nachtigall will miss out as she continues to build up her fitness.

For Bayern, Lena Oberdorf and Katharina Naschenweng remain on the sidelines with injury, and the team suffered two additional personnel setbacks at the start of the year. Sarah Zadrazil recovered enough to make a substitute appearance against Hoffenheim on Sunday, but English midfielder Georgia Stanway (torn ligament) has been ruled out for several weeks. The reigning German champions reacted to those injuries by signing Italy international Arianna Caruso on loan from Juventus for the rest of the season.

“We’ve got a score to settle”

Following the victory over Potsdam, Lara Prasnikar and Géraldine Reuteler were in confident mood as they gave their thoughts on the upcoming cup assignment. “We’re having a great season and we’re playing really well, so why should that be any different in Munich?” said Prasnikar, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend. “We know we’re good and now it’s up to us to show that in Munich. We want to win and reach the semi-finals.”

“It’s going to be extremely tough,” added Reuteler. “But we’re really looking forward to it. We’ve got a score to settle in Munich. We’re in great form and want to show that on Wednesday.”
