Eintracht Frankfurt Women have made their third new signing ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. After Sophia Winkler and Erëleta Memeti, it is now striker Rebecka Blomqvist’s turn to head to Frankfurt, joining the club ahead of the new season from Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg and signing a contract through to 2028.
The 27-year-old made 55 Bundesliga appearances and another 24 in the Champions League for Wolfsburg over the course of five years. This included around a year on the sidelines after she ruptured her cruciate ligament in September 2023, but she was ready for action by the start of last season, playing in nine Champions League matches (three goals, four assists) and 16 more in the Bundesliga (one goal, one assist) in 2024/25. During her time at VfL, she lifted the DFB Cup on no fewer than four occasions and also won the league in 2022.
I’m sure that there is plenty of scope for success here over the coming years, both domestically and internationally.
Rebecka Blomqvist
“I’m delighted to be part of Eintracht Frankfurt for the new season – I’m looking forward to getting to know the city, the club and the team,” said Blomqvist. “I got to play against Frankfurt a lot with VfL Wolfsburg over recent years and they were always tough matches. You could tell that the club was going places, even from the outside, and this development and potential were the main reasons behind my move here now. I want to add my qualities to the team and I’m sure that there is plenty of scope for success here over the coming years, both domestically and internationally.”
“Rebecka is a great attacker and a very versatile player – she can operate as an out-and-out striker or behind the number nine, and also on the wings,” said Niko Arnautis, Eintracht Women’s sporting director and head coach. “In addition to her speed and intelligence out on the pitch, she’s also got a lot of international experience, both from her time with VfL Wolfsburg and playing for her country, and she knows the league well too. This coming season, with more games in the Bundesliga and the fact that we want to remain in Europe for as long as possible, we now have another attacking player available to us who will fit in really well thanks to the way she plays and the type of person she is.”
