Hasebe welcomes Chiba

Japan international and Women’s World Cup participant Remina Chiba has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a contract valid until summer 2026 – and was welcomed by compatriot Makoto Hasebe.

Eintracht Frankfurt Women have bolstered their attack in the new year with the signing of Japan international Remina Chiba, who arrives from JEF United Chiba Ladies on a contract valid until 30 June 2026.

The 24-year-old has played in Japan’s top flight, the WE League, since 2022 and has scored nine goals in 22 matches for JEF United Chiba Ladies, who currently sit ninth in the standings. The right-footer previously laced her boots for the University of Tsubaka, where she also studied.

I want to get settled in as quickly as possible, get to know the team and give it my best shot at contributing as part of the club to us being successful.

The 1.62-metre attacker, who earned a runners-up medal with Japan at the U17 Women’s World Cup in 2016, made her senior international debut in June 2022. She was part of the side that won the 2023 Asian Games and also made her first appearance at a senior Women’s World Cup when she took to the field against Zambia last summer.

“Eintracht have an excellent overall set-up which is why I really wanted to come to Frankfurt,” said Remina Chiba. “The fact that I’ll have someone from my home country in Makoto Hasebe alongside me makes it all the better. I want to get settled in as quickly as possible, get to know the team and give it my best shot at contributing as part of the club to us being successful. I’m also aiming to give the team a boost with my goals and help us to finish the season in a good position in the table.”

Head coach and sporting director Niko Arnautis added: “Remina is a very skilful attacker who’s been trained at the highest technical level. She’s good at dribbling, is an excellent passer and carries a great goal threat. We hope that she will give us even more variety in attacking midfield and up front. It’s no accident that she’s a Japan international and was in the World Cup squad. We’re delighted to have signed such a versatile player and look forward to welcoming her to our training camp on Wednesday.”
