Eintracht Women drew 2-2 at home to Bayer Leverkusen to kick off Matchday 7 of the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga.

Early goals

The away team took the lead in the 17th minute courtesy of a long-range strike by Skinnes Hansen. Eintracht had the perfect response however, with Nicole Anyomi equalising just 120 seconds later with an excellent goal of her own. The match then settled into a rhythm with neither side dominating, and it remained 1-1 until half-time.

Anyomi makes it two

In the second half, Niko Arnautis’ team ramped up the pressure and this ended up paying off in the 66th minute. Friederike Repohl was unable to hold a long-range shot effort by Lara Prasnikar, and Anyomi it was who was on hand to turn the ball home and make it 2-1, to the delight of the XY fans in the crowd at the Stadion am Brentanobad.

Late equaliser

In the 88th minute, Leverkusen turned the tables with a stroke of good fortune, Merino Gonzalez making it 2-2 as a result of a corner.

Nicole Anyomi, who scored both SGE goals: “I’m really not happy with the match. We could have made more of our chances in the first half already. I’m obviously pleased that I scored two goals but we only managed to get a point out of it, and we could have got more. I’m looking forward now though to the Champions League – that’s something really special. I’ve never played in the group stage of the Champions League before.”
