Reuteler the Swiss Women’s Player of the Year

Géraldine Reuteler has been crowned Switzerland’s 2024 Women’s Player of the Year.

For Frankfurt striker Géraldine Reuteler, it’s the first time she’s been selected as the Swiss Women’s Player of the Year. The 25-year-old received the award at the Swiss Football Night. The previous four accolades have been shared by her national team-mates Lia Wälti and Ramona Bachmann. This year, Reuteler came out on top ahead of Bachmann (Houston Dash) as well as Luana Bühler (Tottenham Hotspur). The forward has been at Frankfurt since 2018 and received the award for Swiss Goal of the Year in 2019.

Head coach Niko Arnautis said: “I’m very pleased for Géry. I think she’s taken huge strides forward in Frankfurt in the last few years and developed into an absolute key player for both us and the national team. Géry can cover a lot of positions and is very versatile; as a team player she embodies everything you want as a coach. She’s technically very well trained as well as being a strong and fast runner, she makes a lot of runs and she also scored a lot of goals last year. Géry is characterised by her craftiness and cleverness. She’s earned this award with consistent performances, beating off strong competition in Ramona Bachmann and Luana Bühler.”
