Duisburg – we meet again

Less than two weeks after the DFB Cup quarter-final, Eintracht Women face MSV Duisburg again, this time with important Bundesliga points at stake for both sides.

Just a week and a half ago, Eintracht Women defeated MSV Duisburg 4-1 at the Stadion am Brentanobad in the DFB Cup quarter-final. The two teams now face each other once again on Sunday 17 March (kick-off at 18:30 CET) in Duisburg, in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga.

Vying for European football

After three defeats in a row against Wolfsburg, Leipzig and Bayern München, Niko Arnautis’ team are desperate for three points in their quest for European football. Duisburg, on the other hand, are fighting for survival at the bottom of the table.

Patience is a virtue

“Duisburg are at home and every points counts for them – they’re going to fight and give it their all right until the final whistle,” said Geraldine Reuteler. “We’ll need to show some patience. We might not get an early goal but that’s no reason to stress as we’ve got 90 minutes to carve out the win that we’re looking for. We need to pick up where we left off against Bayern, where we really gave it everything we had and put in a great performance from the 20th minute onwards. We’re not worried about the fact that we’re fourth at the moment – all that counts is where we are after 22 games.”
