After a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the third qualifying round for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Eintracht Women head to the French capital for the decisive clash on Wednesday (18:30 CEST).
All to play for
Eintracht flew out of the blocks in the first leg against PSG and took the lead after four minutes through Larissa Mühlhaus, but Naomie Feller equalised for the Parisians just three minutes later. Although the Eagles dominated for large spells of the game after that, they couldn’t make the most of their chances, with Hanna Bennison hitting the post twice in succession early in the second half.
With the score at 1-1 from the first leg, the tie is finely poised. Victory for Eintracht would send them through to the league phase of Europe’s premier club competition. If the second leg is also level after 90 minutes, it will go to extra time and then, if there’s still no winner, it will be decided by penalties.
Team news
Eintracht remain without goalkeeper Sophia Winkler for the trip to Paris.
“We believe in our chance and want to take it.”
At the pre-match press conference, head coach Niko Arnautis said: “The team looked very good in the final training session. We’re well prepared and want to leave everything out there on Wednesday evening. We showed in the first leg that we can cause Paris big problems. We believe in our chance and want to take it.”
