Freigang and Anyomi on target
Eintracht enjoyed a bright start and took the lead in the sixth minute when Lara Prasnikar’s inch-perfect pass set up Laura Freigang to slam into the net from 12 metres out.
Prasnikar was the provider once again ten minutes later when she teed up Nicole Anyomi to make it 2-0 and put Eintracht firmly on course for the win. Köln subsequently grew into the game but never looked dangerous going forward.
Anyomi could have added to the scoreline shortly before the interval after pouncing on a defensive error, but she could only hit the crossbar with the goal at her mercy.
Freigang nets 14th of the season
Freigang put the game to bed in the 53rd minute when she headed in Carlotta Wamser’s cross to put Eintracht 3-0 up with her 14th goal of the season.
Senß adds gloss
The Eagles were very much the superior side now and scored a fourth goal in stoppage time via Elisa Senß following good work from Wamser (90‘+1).
Reaction
Head coach Niko Arnautis: “We played very well right from the off today. We dominated our opponents throughout the 90 minutes, both with and without the ball, and we scored some quick goals. All four goals were very nice and we could even have scored more. On the whole, it was a commanding performance. Today we took the next important step towards the Champions League. We want to secure European qualification with our fans behind us next Saturday.”
