Tanja Pawollek called up by Poland

SGE captain Tanja Pawollek is set to take part in Poland’s training camp in Spain next month after being named in their senior squad for the first time.

Newly appointed coach Nina Patalon has included the 21-year-old, whose parents were born in Poland, in her 26-woman squad for the upcoming training camp in Spain, which will take place from 7 until 15 June.

Poland will play two friendlies in that period – against Finland on 11 June (19:00 CEST) and Czech Republic three days later (11:00 CEST) – in preparation for their 2023 World Cup qualifying campaign, which gets under way in September.

Pawollek has already tasted international football with Germany, having represented them at every youth level from the U15s through to the U20s. She made 49 youth team appearances overall, winning the European Women’s Under-17 Championship in 2016. She also took part in the senior team’s winter training camp in January 2019.
