The 19-year-old, who previously played for Bayern’s Bundesliga 2 side, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract. After joining FC Bayern Women in 2015, Köster went on to play for their under-17 side before being promoted to the second team in 2017. She won league titles with the U17s (2016/17) and Bayern Munich II (2018/19), who – like the men’s team this season – were not allowed promotion despite being crowned champions.
Leonie Köster is a very good fit in terms of our youth policy, which we’ll continue to follow here at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Head coach Niko Arnautis
Born in Munich, the technically gifted central midfielder has represented Germany at every youth level up to the under-19s, making 49 appearances overall. “After all those years with the FC Bayern Munich youth and second teams, I’m really pleased to be making the step up to the Women’s Bundesliga,” said Köster.
“Leonie Köster is a very good fit in terms of our youth policy, which we’ll continue to follow here at Eintracht Frankfurt,” added head coach Niko Arnautis. “Leonie produced brilliant performances over several years at FC Bayern Munich and has also played many games at youth international level. Now she can take the next step in her career with us in the Women’s Bundesliga.”
