The Eintracht Frankfurt Women faced reigning German champions Wolfsburg in the first friendly of the team’s training camp, but found themselves 3-0 down after 15 minutes following a strong opening from VfL. Eintracht subsequently grew into the game and pulled a goal back through Gery Reuteler in the 38th minute to make the score 3-1 at the interval.
Ewa Pajor and Lara Dickenmann added to the scoreline for Wolfsburg in the second half, while Friderike Abt was on target for the Eagles as the match ended 5-2.
Eintracht head coach Niko Arnautis: "We were asleep for the first seven minutes and went 2-0 down. We made it too easy for Wolfsburg, but we had a good spell after that, despite conceding a third goal. We started the second half well, even if we did go 4-1 down, and we played with courage going forward. Both teams had chances, Lara scored her first goal and we showed a good mentality and enjoyment of the game. We can take several positives from it, but we know what we need to improve on before the league starts up. "
