Hanshaw to leave Eintracht Frankfurt

After six years in Frankfurt, Verena Hanshaw will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

After spending a total of six years in a Frankfurt jersey, full- back Verena Hanshaw has chosen not to extend her contract, which expires this summer, and will pursue a new opportunity abroad. The club she’s joining will be made known at a later date.

The 30-year-old Austrian international moved from SC Sand to what was 1. FFC Frankfurt ahead of the 2018/19 season, and went on to make over 130 appearances in all competitions for Frankfurt. She will bid farewell to the club on Monday 13 May, in the final home game against SC Freiburg (kick-off 19:30 CET).

“Always have a special place in my life”

“My time at Eintracht Frankfurt was about much more than football,” said Hanshaw. “It’s been filled with unforgettable moments and valuable memories which I will keep in my heart forever. Thank you, Eintracht, for six wonderful years – you will always have a special place in my life.”

“Verena has played a major role in our success on and off the pitch,” commented head coach and sporting director Niko Arnautis. “She’s an absolute team player and developed into a leader during her time here, taking on responsibility within the team. We will miss Verena enormously as a player and as a person, and she will always be an important part of this special history and journey. We therefore wish her nothing but the very best for the future.”
