Virginia Kirchberger joins the Eagles

The defender moves from fellow Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg, signing a two-year deal through to 30 June 2022.

The 27-year-old, who can play at either centre-back or full-back, is strong in the air and has already proven during her four years in Germany that she has a nose for goal, racking up 16 goals in around 200 appearances in Bundesliga 1 and 2 and in the DFB Cup for her previous clubs. The 1.76-meter-tall Austrian has also won 71 caps for her country, scoring one goal in the process.

Everyone at Eintracht is confident about the future but going about things in a really professional way.

“Everyone at Eintracht is confident about the future but going about things in a really professional way, and I can identify with that 100 per cent.”
Sporting director Siegfried Dietrich was also delighted about the club’s new acquisition, saying: “Along with her confident manner and her qualities as an attack-minded defender, Virginia also brings domestic and international experience. She will be a great addition as we look to build an attacking team.”
