“We want to fulfil our dream”

Ahead of the UWCL play-off first leg against Sparta Praha, Niko Arnautis and Lara Prasnikar share their thoughts on midweek matches, the atmosphere at Deutsche Bank Park and the strengths of last season’s Czech

Niko Arnautis und Lara Prasnikar on…

… playing three games in a week:

Arnautis: “It feels like a lot has happened already this season, even though it’s only really just begun. We have to learn to treat every game as a crunch match, no matter whether it’s the league, cup or Champions League. We’re going to field a team tomorrow that is ready to give everything over the two games to make sure we reach the next round. That’s our big dream.”

… games at Deutsche Bank Park:

Prasnikar: “For us, it’s always special to be able to play here. We’re really looking forward to it. The atmosphere is always brilliant. As a team, we’re very grateful to have so many fans. Women’s football in Germany continues to grow. Even if there are only 5,000 fans tomorrow, we’ll play for every single one of them.”

We want to create another magical night tomorrow.

Head coach Niko Arnautis

Arnautis: “It’s a token of people’s appreciation for us that we’re allowed to play in this stadium so often. We want to create another magical night tomorrow. The team will put on a performance that will make them want to return. We’ll give everything for them.”

… opponents AC Sparta Praha:

Arnautis: “They have a lot of experienced players in their ranks, have played in the Champions League on a regular basis and have dominated the Czech league alongside Slavia since the league was established. Apart from the game against Slavia, they’ve won all their league matches comfortably this season. The important thing is that we’re aware of Sparta’s strengths and weaknesses, which we’ll look to exploit. No matter who we play, we need to perform for 90 minutes in order to fulfil our dream. Sparta have the quality to make it through the play-offs, but we believe in our own strengths too.”
